Welcome back to another OWLS post. It’s been awhile so I thought I’d go over what OWLS is, just in case anyone reading this is a newcomer. Back in December, a couple bloggers thought it’d be cool to team up and create a blogging group (credit for idea goes to OGZ) that did monthly blog tours (credit to Arria) where we would promote acceptance in the community for all individuals via anime and related fandoms
I think a lot of us mentioned that we didn’t just want to promote tolerance for minority groups, but acceptance. Personally, I wanted to share some of my thoughts on certain matters and learn from my fellow bloggers about theirs.
Our first tour was in January and we talked about Disruptors, which I think is one way to describe OWLS. Since then we’ve completed 4 tours and we’re now on our 5th one! And each time I think we’re getting better at what we set out to do Continue reading OWLS Strength Blog Tour: Shirotani’s Mental Fortitude and Helping Hand (It’s OK to Need Help Sometimes)
Eherm, so I stopped reading this manga a while ago, weeks, possibly months. But I was bored last night and figured there was enough content where I could just skip certain scenes if I needed to (or at least get some sort of explanation where I wouldn’t feel too weirded out reading this), only to end up rereading the whole thing
Because I’ve been following it pretty faithfully since (probably) before volume 1 was printed, I feel like I’ve forgotten a few things. It’s kind of like watching anime once a week compared to binging everything. Rereading it helped jog my memory and I thought I’d write up a post with some quick thoughts about each volume, knowing what’s coming in volume 5 Continue reading Rereading Ten Count by Rihito Takarai
Just wanted to show you all some new books that I’m really excited about! You see, today was both one of the worst days of my life and best. Worst because I had to go grocery shopping for curry, sushi, and gyoza ingredients, though that’s not the bad part. The bad part is that the store that has many of the essential ingredients is about a 2 hour drive away with 3 tolls.
But I really wanted to eat curry for Thanksgiving so I decided to make the drive. Unfortunately, things turned out not so well on the way back. There was major traffic and since there’s a lot of road construction…well, I’ll leave it up to your imaginations. The only information I’ll give you is that I was out for about 7 hours and was only inside of a store for about 2 hours total (I went to two different stores).
However, it was also a very good day because I went to Kinokuniya~ And being the spender that I am, I bought myself some books 😀
I was supposed to hold off on buying any new books, and I’d been doing a great job so far. I think my last purchase was done September? During the whole Yaoi-con and AWA weekend. But then I fell to temptation. I actually brought some money with me on the trip to Arlington Heights because I knew I wasn’t going to be able to resist. Currently (and for a while now), my favorite yaoi manga is Ten Count by Rihito Takarai!!
It’s really an adorable piece that I would recommend to all yaoi lovers (though if you’re not comfortable with explicit scenes beware because there are quite a few of them in here). The art is also delicious and dang them characters are H-O-T, even the uke, which I’d normally only coo at. If Kurose wasn’t his seme, seriously, I’d take him!
While I’d love to say that everything is perfect, I do have to comment on how Shirotani and Kurose’s relationship confuses me. I mean, Shirotani is obviously afraid of contamination and we see that early on, especially when Takarai draws from the POV of Shirotani. We see the germs begin to contaminate surfaces and honestly, it’s pretty scary.
On the other hand there’s also the beginnings of romance and Shirotani becomes able to stand Kurose’s touch. I guess this rapid transition makes me wonder if Shirotani is actually afraid of germs/contamination or if it’s something a bit more traumatic (especially with what’s been going on lately)!
Either way, it’s a good read!! （˶′◡‵˶） Continue reading OH FUCK YAOI: Day 2
