OWLS April Tour Schedule and Other Fun Updates!

Hey guys! So it looks like I’m a tad late with this post but figured “better late than never”, right? ^^

This month OWLS is touching on a topic I felt has been really important lately and something I never really took notice of until now. Our tour is called “Colors” and we’ll be looking at race, people of color in anime, and how they are represented in media

In general I feel like I’ve been really lucky with how I’ve grown up. I never really had to face discrimination like others elsewhere and if I did, I probably can’t remember (I have little memories of when I was a kid). The only time I can think of when I was discriminated against was during high school where my counselor asked me if I could speak English (I said yes) and if I could understand her (ok lady, I said I could speak English). But other than this, there hasn’t been anything too damaging, only annoying

In that sense, I’m not sure how much I will be contributing to this tour, and I’ll be learning a lot from everyone else’s posts!

We are all part of one race, the human race. “Colors” refers to people of color in anime. For this monthly topic, we will be discussing how people of color or characters of different “races” (a literal alien race) are represented in anime. Some topics we are considering is the dangers of stereotyping, bi-racial characters, and the importance of racial inclusion.

For April, our schedule will be just as full as March. We’ll have 16 posts from 16 OWLS members and they will be posted on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays! Like always, this is the schedule so far and I’ll try my best to keep it up-to-date ^^

Since these will be in-depth posts, they will have spoilers!

Like last month, our hosts will be Kat (GrimmGirl), Naja (Nice Job Breaking It, Hero), and Lita (Lita Anime Corner)

They will be going over the March blog tour, talking about some of their favorites, some things they learned, and (in general) what they thought about the topic. They’ll also be interacting with viewers so if you’d like to join in the discussion live, be sure to be active in the chat. Our last stream lasted about 3 hours so don’t be afraid to drop in late or even just to say hi!
